09:51 am - eee pc So..a rather large number of people seem to be squeeing over these, and a number have actually bought one.
My laptop is not as healthy as i'd like it (keeps overheating - any advice?) and also very heavy.
I confess to being tempted by the cuteness (it's called eee ffs!)
What i would like to know is - what CAN'T the eee do? Current Mood: geeky

12:18 pm - Calling London/London Calling I will be starting my course on the 7th or 8th of May in Avery Hill, Eltham, South London. I've contacted the accommodation department, but don't yet know if/when they will be able to offer me space. I am hopeful that they will be ok for it.
However, i'd like to "belt and braces" and it's possible that i might need some temporary crash space while it's sorted out. Any volunteers? Current Mood: hopeful

09:53 pm - Annie Lennox "Walking On Broken Glass"
You were the sweetest thing that I ever knew But I don't care for sugar honey if I can't have you Since you've abandoned me My whole life has crashed Won't you pick the pieces up 'cause it feels just like I'm walking on broken glass
Walking on walking on broken glass
The sun's still shining in the big blue sky But it don't mean nothing to me Oh let the rain come down Let the wind blow through me I'm living in an empty room With all the windows smashed And I've got so little left to lose That it feels just like I'm walking on broken glass
Walking on walking on broken glass
And if you're trying to cut me down You know that I might bleed Cause if you're trying to cut me down I know that you'll succeed And if you want to hurt me There's nothing left to fear Cause if you want to hurt me You're doing really well my dear
Now everyone of us was made to suffer Everyone of us was made to weep But we've been hurting one another And now the pain has cut too deep... So take me from the wreckage Save me from the blast Lift me up and take me back Don't let me keep on walking... Walking on broken glass
Walking on walking on broken glass

06:59 pm - Snow Patrol Set The Fire To The Third Bar (feat. Martha Wainwright)
I find the map and draw a straight line Over rivers, farms, and state lines The distance from 'A' to where you'd be It's only finger-lengths that I see I touch the place where I'd find your face My finger in creases of distant dark places
I hang my coat up in the first bar There is no peace that I've found so far The laughter penetrates my silence As drunken men find flaws in science
Their words mostly noises Ghosts with just voices Your words in my memory Are like music to me
I'm miles from where you are, I lay down on the cold ground I, I pray that something picks me up And sets me down in your warm arms
After I have travelled so far We'd set the fire to the third bar We'd share each other like an island Until exhausted, close our eyelids And dreaming, pick up from The last place we left off Your soft skin is weeping A joy you can't keep in
I'm miles from where you are, I lay down on the cold ground And I, I pray that something picks me up and sets me down in your warm arms
I'm miles from where you are, I lay down on the cold ground and I, I pray that something picks me up and sets me down in your warm arms

02:09 pm - Advice please I am thinking of purchasing some things soon, and i'd appreciate some suggestions/advice etc
Printer for my computer. I'm considering getting laser - i'm fed up of the problems that i've had in the past with Epsom.
It needs to be reliable, able to handle large volumes, colour, and cheap to run. Reasonable quality print which doesn't run would be an advantage, and reasonable photographic reproduction, but i don't use it for that much.
Mp3 player
I want something which will plug directly into a USB slot(without the need for cables), and can be used like a memory stick with "drag and drop" rather than having to install software/driver. I want to pay no more than £35-40. I want to be able to play as many formats as possible. I'd obviously like reasonable sound. I don't want an ipod of any sort. I'm not sure how big i want it to be - maybe 1-2gig?
What are your recommendations? Current Mood: geeky

06:27 pm - *That V day* Well, i'm going to follow syllopsium's lead here.
I'm not doing anything like getting a valentinr account or anything.
As you can probably guess, i'm not feeling particularly happy about tomorrow, since apparently no-one i love seems to want my love.
If you want to say something NICE, please do so below. I will screen all comments.
I'm not really in the right frame of mind for starting relationships, but if you just generally want to say something nice and affectionate, but hopefully not sinister, then please do so.
If nobody says anything, i shall cry.
Well, to be fair, i shall probably cry anyway, but i'll cry more.

02:17 pm - Problem - advice? and a warning! Hello everybody
I've got a bit of a problem
I posted a cheque to succubus69 for a pair of New Rocks about 10 days ago, and she tells me that it hasn't arrived.
The money hasn't gone out of my account. The Post Office don't describe something as "missing" until it has been gone for 15 days, when you can fill out a form for it.
The bank will charge me - get this TEN POUNDS! to cancel the cheque!
Help! I don't know what to do!
Obviously i'm not assuming that succubus *is* being dishonest - in fact she's given me great communication, and i can see she's got plenty of positive feedback - but i can't really assume that she *isn't*...it's just impossible to know.
I am quite pissed off with the bank about this, cos if it hadn't cost me anything to cancel (or just a more reasonable amount!), i'd just have cancelled and sent another.
What should i do?? Current Mood: worried

11:17 pm - Icons! A lighthearted post for a change!
I would like to make a "strong women" icon, with pictures of women who i think kick serious arse. I would like to have a series of pictures, and text which says "strong women" - maybe something else. I want it to cycle through the images. I've got Gimp, and have been fiddling with it, but i don't really know how to do it.
Can anyone do one for me? Or show me how to?
I've never made an icon before. If it's deeply complicated, it may be beyond my ken.
I think i would like pics of Kali, Durga, Hildegarde Von Bingen, Aung San Suu Kyi, Meena http://www.rawa.org/meena.html, Sheila Kitzinger and Ina May Gaskin.
Hmm. That's quite a combination. Vengeful warrior women, peacemakers, midwives. Current Mood: confused

Which Discworld Character are you like (with pics) created with QuizFarm.com |
| You scored as Esmerelda (Granny) Weatherwax You are Granny Weatherwax! The most powerful witch on the Disc! You often use headology rather than actual spells, and are a very good witch, despite the fact that you sometimes wish you were a bad one. You play a mean game of Cripple Mr. Onion, and have a very powerful stare. By the way, you should really get that broom fixed…
